- Your remodeled pool area rendered in 2D and 3D before demolition begins
- Pool, decking, and surrounding hardscape remodeled as one scope, not three trips
- Family-owned since 2002, backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty
Understanding Pool Remodeling
A dated pool is rarely just a surface problem. Failing plaster usually arrives alongside cracked tile, tired coping, a deck that no longer matches, and equipment that costs more to run every year. We handle the full scope of resurfacing, tile, coping, decking, drainage, and equipment- to the same structural standards and in-house accountability we bring to every remodel we take on.
Our clients are not just resurfacing a pool. They are reclaiming the entire backyard around it, and that is exactly what we design and deliver.

Our Pool Remodeling Services

Resurfacing and Replastering
Standard plaster, quartz and pebble finishes, chosen for the look you want and how long you intend to keep the pool. We chip out the old surface properly rather than skim-coating over failing plaster, because a new finish bonded to a bad substrate fails again in a fraction of the time.

Tile, Coping and Waterline Detail
Waterline tile, raised wall tile and coping replacement in stone, brick or precast. This is the detail that dates a pool faster than anything else, and replacing it is often what makes a fifteen-year-old pool read as new without touching the shell.

Decking and Pool Surrounds
New pavers, concrete or stone decking with the slope, drainage and expansion detailing corrected while the area is already open. Deck material affects heat underfoot and slip resistance as much as appearance, and a resurfaced pool framed by tired decking only draws attention to the deck.

Equipment and Efficiency Upgrades
Variable-speed pumps, modern filtration, heaters, sanitization and automation sized for your actual pool volume. Older single-speed equipment is usually the largest recurring cost of owning a pool, and upgrading during a remodel avoids paying for mobilization twice.

Added Features and Reshaping
Spas, tanning ledges, raised walls, sheer descents, waterfalls and fire features added to an existing pool, along with structural changes where the shell allows. We tell you honestly what your existing pool can accommodate before you design around it.

Full Pool Area Redesign
This is where a design-build contractor differs from a resurfacing company. We remodel the pool alongside the hardscape, outdoor kitchen, fire features, shade structures and planting, so the finished area resolves as one design instead of a new surface surrounded by everything you already wanted to replace.
Our Pool Remodeling Process
Step 1 - Site Visit and Assessment
We inspect the shell, surface, tile, coping, decking, plumbing, and equipment to establish what is actually failing and what still has life in it. This is also where we find the problems that were never addressed: drainage running toward the house, deck settling, plumbing that has been patched more than once.
Step 2 - Scope and 3D Design
Our in-house design team develops the remodel in 2D and 3D, covering finish, tile, coping, decking, and any added features or surrounding work. You see the finished result in context and approve it before demolition starts.
Step 3 - Finish and Material Selection
We walk you through plaster, quartz, and pebble finishes, tile, coping, and decking options with recommendations based on durability, water color, maintenance, and how each holds up under Southern California sun and coastal air.
Step 4 - Drain, Demolition and Prep
The pool is drained, and the old surface, tile, and coping are removed. Any shell repairs, plumbing corrections, or drainage work are completed at this stage, while everything is accessible and before new material goes on.
Step 5 - Surface, Tile, Coping and Deck
New tile and coping are set, the interior finish is applied, and decking and surrounding hardscape are completed. Because we handle the surrounding work too, the pool and the space around it finish out as one continuous scope.
Step 6 - Fill, Startup, Walkthrough and Warranty
We fill the pool, complete the startup and water balancing the new finish requires, walk you through equipment operation and care, and finish the punch list. Our construction work is backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty.
Why Orange County Homeowners Choose Millennium Construction
Most pool remodeling companies resurface the pool and leave. The cracked deck, the drainage that never worked, and the tired hardscape around it stay exactly as they were, and the new finish makes all of it more obvious. Millennium remodels the pool and the space it sits in.
The Pool and the Space Around It
We are a design-build remodeling contractor, so decking, hardscape, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and planting are handled by the same team on the same schedule. One mobilization, one point of contact, one finished result.
Surfaces Prepared, Not Covered Up
Old plaster is removed, and the substrate is prepared before a new finish goes on. Skimming over failing material is faster and cheaper on the invoice, and it is the reason some pools need resurfacing again within a few years.
See It Before You Build It
Every remodel is developed through 2D and 3D renderings covering finish, tile, coping, and decking. Water color changes considerably with finish choice, and seeing it rendered against your deck and house beats guessing from a sample board.
Licensed for the Work
We hold five CSLB license classifications, including C-53, the swimming pool contractor license, alongside B, C-8, C-29, and C-27. Coverage includes $1,000,000 in general liability and workers' compensation, backed by an A+ BBB rating and a perfect CSLB record.
Built for Southern California
Finishes, tile, and decking have to hold up through year-round sun and coastal air, and equipment decisions carry real water and energy implications. We specify for long-term performance and operating cost, not just install-day appearance.
A Family-Owned Company That Stays
Founded in 2002 and family-owned since. Much of our work comes from referrals and repeat clients, homeowners who brought us back for a second and third project.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know when my pool needs resurfacing?
Common signs include rough or chalky plaster, staining that no longer cleans up, visible cracking or delamination, exposed aggregate underfoot, and a pool that loses water faster than evaporation explains. We inspect the shell and surface during the site visit and tell you whether you are looking at a resurface, a repair, or something further out.
What is the difference between plaster, quartz and pebble finishes?
They differ in texture, durability, water color, and cost. Standard plaster is the most economical and the shortest-lived, quartz adds hardness and color stability, and pebble finishes are the most durable with a more textured feel underfoot. We walk you through the trade-offs and show the water color rendered against your deck rather than judged from a sample.
Can I remodel just the surface, or should I do the tile and deck too?
You can absolutely resurface alone, and sometimes that is the right call. But tile, coping and decking are what date a pool visually, and a new finish tends to draw attention to whatever was left. Doing them together also avoids paying to mobilize twice. We will tell you which parts actually need attention.
Do you upgrade pool equipment during a remodel?
Yes. Variable-speed pumps, filtration, heating, sanitization, and automation can all be addressed while the pool is already down. Older single-speed equipment is usually the highest recurring cost of pool ownership, so a remodel is the natural time to change it.
How long does a pool remodel take?
The timeline depends on the scope, whether decking and surrounding work are included, and material availability, so we will not quote a schedule before seeing your pool. We will give you a realistic timeline once the scope and selections are set, and keep you updated if anything changes.
Can you change the shape of my existing pool or add features?
Often yes. Spas, tanning ledges, raised walls, water features, and fire elements can frequently be added, and some structural changes are possible depending on the shell and the original construction. We assess what your pool can accommodate before you design around it.
What warranty coverage applies?
Our construction work is backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty. Pool finishes and equipment carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we walk you through at startup along with the water care the new surface requires.

Ready to Give Your Pool Area a Second Life?
A tired pool does not usually need replacing. It needs the surface, the tile, the deck and the space around it brought back together as one design. Millennium Construction has been remodeling pools and backyards across Orange County since 2002, under a C-53 license and one family-owned team.
